It had been months since she had last seen Julian. Ironically enough, it had been the night she lost her virginity to him. Now, she was fine, top of her game again, which translated to top of the school, and didn't have a care in the world. Especially not when it came to her ex boyfriend. He disappeared off into the night and though, eventually, Elle tried looking for him but she found nothing. His family didn't seem to be bothered by it either so she eventually believed he left on his own accord. Currently she was sitting in the library, her hair pulled into a high bun and her pen was scribbling furiously across her notebook, making large dents into the paper. She looked visibly healthier, which she was. She eventually had begun to sneak into therapy but had ended that nearly a month ago.
Black boots stopped on the floor as a certain lunar prince walked down the hall, all eyes on him and nothing but whispered voices. Julian had been gone for quiet some time and like anyone would imagine, he didn't care. He kept a straight face and even when someone familiar tried to greet him, he just pushed past. Finally, after a few minutes, he made it to the library and as he expected - his gaze fell on that of a certain brunette, tearing away at her pages. Without much thought, he walked over to the girl and snatched the pencil from her hand and threw it across the table. "You should write slower, you know people can't read you writing when you do it too fast." He stated, almost as if nothing hand change, He even had a small smirk on his lips - though it was forced.
At first she froze as her pencil was ripped out of her grip, if she knew someone was going to snatch it, she would have had a harder grip on it, before her heart sank at the voice. She didn't have to turn her head to know who it was, though she did it anyway, half hoping his face would be covered in scars to at least explain why he had been gone. Her lips pulled into a scowl but the rest of her face was impassive, giving nothing of her racing heart, or her frozen mind, away. "You insinuate someone else is going to be reading it," she said slowly, sliding out of her chair to reach his height. Like she was ever going to let him lean over her and her hand gripped the back of the chair, almost as if it was the only thing keeping her from leaping at him and beating him to pulp herself. She wouldn't but it had crossed her mind. "I didn't know you were back."
He read her every movement, every twitch of her expression - it was almost as if he were reading her mind and as expected, all he was receiving was hate. "What a surprise, Elle doesn't know everything..." He teased, though everything he was doing was fake. From his smile, to the happy glimmer in his eyes, and even his teasing tone. His acting was spot on and most people would never know though, Elle wasn't most people. Julian had to distract her and only one thing crossed his mind. With one simple step, the lunar prince was inches away from Elle, his face looking down at hers and his hand resting on hers. "Come on Elle, you know you missed me." He whispered in her ear while his other hand began to wrap around he waist.
She wasn't an idiot, nor was she slow, she had already suspected the acting from the smirk from before and the current smile and everything else made that suspicion become cemented. As soon as she felt his touch, she was torn. Part of her would probably always be attracted to him and so that part she knew wanted to melt into the touch, but the majority of her was still anger and hate. "If you don't move back, Julian, I will snap every bone in your bone. Every single one," she snarled.
His expression rid of any false one and a sinister gaze appear in his eyes, though Elle wouldn't have noticed considering their position. "I'd honestly like to see you try." He spoke in a cold harsh tone, before backing off and giving her the same fake smile from before. "Hey, isn't it your birthday today." He voiced, as if nothing were wrong. "We should celebrate."
She paused, her expression freezing, she thought he was joking, if she was honest with herself, before she pulled out her phone to stare at the date. Fuck, it is. She never exactly remembered her birthday until she needed to put her age down somewhere. "No, we shouldn't," she said carefully, "because I don't celebrate it. Especially not with you." I'd rather Diana.
"Oh come on, We can celebrate at a bar or something then, for old times sake, we can take it back to my room and have a little fun" With the end of his sentence, he winked.
"If you want someone to have a 'little fun' with, I could give you a couple of numbers, I'm sure every single one of them would be happy to join you," she sneered, her nose curling at the suggestion. Did he seriously think she was just another one of his groupies. "So either get the fuck out of my face," she began, jabbing her finger into his chest, "or drop the act. If I knew how much of an entitled prick you are, I would never have slept with you in the first place." With that, she slung her bag over her shoulder, "get a life."
The spot where she jabbed still stung a bit and all Julian did was rub it with his thumb while gazing at Elle and as if it were the easiest thing in the world, Julian laughed. "OK OK Elle, god i was just messing around." He tried to explain. "I'm sorry, and i know i'm the last person you'd wanna spend your birthday with." With this he paused and reached into the inside of his jacket. "I did get you a gift though." Julian began, pulling out a file. "I know you like solving things like this and it would really help out not only me but the kingdoms so, give it some thought." Without letting Elle answer, he set the file down on the table they were previously sitting at and walked away.
She stared at him, her lips still pulled down into a scowl, but her eyes dragged away from the boy to stare at the file, her curiosity now slightly piqued but still, some part of her wanted to burn it. Just to be petty. She didn't touch it until he was sufficiently far away before she slid it into her bag for later reading and left through another exit than Julian.
~Time Skip to a week? later~
It had been no longer than a week after Julian's return and well, all he could do was wait for Elle. Currently, he waited in the spot he suspected his clues would lead her to and he was sure Elle would be smart enough to figure the mystery out.
She had figured it all out ages ago, pinpointing to where the clues lead at nearly one in the morning the next day, but she waited a week or so to do anything about it. She wasn't going to be at the beck and call of the stupid lunar prince. Eventually, she wandered to the location and paused some distance away, still in ear shot though. "Was this some game?" She asked, hesitantly.
As his gaze fell upon the young brunette, Julian smirked. He knew she'd figure it out and as he continued to stare at her, a small part of him wondered if he should back off. Call it quits and say he failed his mission. Just as fast as the thought crossed his mind, a part of him pushed it away and his eye went dark. Rather than being their light hazel color, they turn a dark dark brown, almost black. "did you have to make me wait so long Elle, i know you probably figured things out that same day i gave you the file." Julian shook his head and in the blink of an eye, he had used the dark ally's shadows to travel behind her and chuckle. "you know, i really don't think anyone is gonna miss you..." He whispered, his knife coming up to her neck but, not yet using it to make his kill.
